Lots of us love wooden figures. But if you want them to last a long time, you need to look after them. You can do this with beeswax. Read on for tips on how to use beeswax on your wooden figures.
Do you also love decorating your home with cute wooden figurines? We can certainly understand that. Wooden figurines can bring both life and personality to a home and put a smile on your face. And they can be a great conversation starter when you have guests round.
However, as wood is an organic material, wooden figurines can dry out over time and – in the worst case – develop cracks. And we’d like to avoid that at all costs – after all, we want our figurines to stay on the shelf at home for many, many years.
Maintenance with beeswax
To give your wooden figurines a longer life, it’s a good idea to treat them with beeswax at regular intervals. The beeswax helps to keep the wood moist, so it doesn’t dry out and crack.
Beeswax is a natural product produced by bees. The bees themselves use their beeswax to make wax combs, which they use to build their hive. But beeswax can also be used to maintain your wooden figurines and wooden animals – regardless of the type of wood they’re made from.
How to do it
- First of all, make sure the surface you’re going to treat is clean and dry.
- Use a lint-free cloth to apply the beeswax. Apply the wax in circular motions in a thin, even layer over the entire wooden figure.
- Make sure you cover all the corners and edges thoroughly so that the figure has a uniform finish. Keep the figure at room temperature (20°C).
- After 15–20 minutes, take a lint-free cotton cloth and polish the figure. Allow the wax to dry for a couple of hours afterwards before using the figure.
Now all that’s left is to enjoy the fact that you’ve extended the life of your wooden figurines, so you can enjoy them for many more years to come. Are you curious about our range of wooden figurines?
