Spring Copenhagen has launched a new design collaboration with the Danish design duo Kjær Bak, who for a number of years have specialised in creating miniature accessories that give our figures new looks and personalities.
Together, we are now opening the door to a new universe centred around Spring Copenhagen’s figures – a universe where personality, creativity and play take centre stage.
It all began one late summer evening
The story of Kjær Bak began on a beach.
One late summer evening, designers Karen Bak and Charlotte Kjær Pedersen sat listening to the sound of the sea as their conversation turned to what they knew best: people, styling and personality.
Throughout their careers, they had always been fascinated by how even the smallest details can transform an entire look. A pair of glasses. A bag. A particular accessory. Little things that can reveal surprisingly much about who we are.
And then an idea struck them:
“If we can style people and give them personality through small details – why shouldn’t we be able to do the same with wooden figures?”

That thought marked the beginning of Kjær Bak in 2016.
From wooden figure to personality
Karen and Charlotte began to imagine wooden figures that weren’t just beautiful design objects, but could take on a personality all of their own.
Figures that could be styled and transformed. That could have humour and character. And that could tell little stories through what they were wearing.
A bag. A hat. An apron.
Small details that suddenly made a big difference.
This became the foundation of Kjær Bak’s universe and an idea they have continued to develop ever since: styling wood the same way you style people.
It is precisely this idea that now meets Spring Copenhagen’s world.
When two design worlds meet
At Spring Copenhagen, the figures have always been more than just wood, form and function.
