Spring Copenhagen wins DKK 6 million and expands its range

On Monday evening, the owners of Spring Copenhagen, Claus Nielsen and Peter Sørensen, were named Denmark’s best entrepreneurs. The title comes with an investment of 6 million Danish kroner from Seier Capital, which will boost exports and prepare the company to enter the lighting market.

On Monday evening, the design company Spring Copenhagen received a huge boost to its growth plans.

In Monday’s season finale of the TV2 start-up programme Vejen til Seier, Lars Seier accepted Spring Copenhagen’s offer to become an equal partner. The owners, Claus Nielsen and Peter Sørensen, were named Denmark’s best entrepreneurs, and the company received an injection of 6 million Danish kroner.

Ambitious targets

The two partners in the company are not going to rest on their laurels. The capital injection provides extra muscle to capture market share sooner than expected, and in collaboration with Lars Seier, ambitious targets have been set.

“It’s fantastic to have won ‘Vejen til Seier’. We’ve secured the title ahead of 700 other talented Danish entrepreneurs, and we’ve brought someone of Lars Seier’s calibre on board. Lars Seier is one of Denmark’s most successful investors. It’s a huge vote of confidence that he believes in us and Spring Copenhagen. And the extra capital means we can really go all out in, amongst other things, the neighbouring markets in Scandinavia and Northern Europe,” says Peter Sørensen.

Entering the lighting market

For Claus Nielsen and Peter Sørensen, the investment means the company is really stepping up a gear.

As well as boosting exports, the millions will also provide scope for product development, and extra effort is being put into developing lamps.

“Lighting is an important part of the home; it has a positive effect on your mood and well-being. The same goes for beautiful and well-thought-out design. Ever since we started, we’ve wanted to offer strong and inspiring designs in the field of lighting. In fact, we’ve been working with our designers on a number of ideas for over a year, and now we can accelerate development to such an extent that we expect to launch the first designs this autumn,” says Claus Nielsen, who is responsible for product development at Spring Copenhagen.

Investment is crucial to growth

Since its launch in 2015, Spring Copenhagen has doubled its turnover every year.

In record time, they have made a name for themselves in the Danish design industry with functional designs in wood, ceramics and metal. This investment will accelerate the company’s growth even further.

“Claus and Peter’s sales figures speak for themselves, and they have achieved impressive growth. I am now stepping in as an equal partner and injecting capital so that they can create something truly significant within Danish design. I expect this to be a resounding entrepreneurial success,” says Lars Seier.

Spring Copenhagen’s first lamps will be launched in autumn 2019. At the same time, Spring Copenhagen is strengthening the international distribution of its current designs and concepts, and by early 2019 the company had established a number of new distributors and agents across most of the EU to further drive growth.

Having started out with the iconic Danish pepper mill, The Pepper Bird, as its sole product on the shelves in 2015, Spring Copenhagen now has over 70 products in its portfolio of interior design and accessories for the kitchen, living room and children’s bedroom.
